Surviving to Thriving

Were excited to invite you to this presentation which offers a glimpse into the multidisciplinary approach inclusive of ACT, ARC, Trauma Informed Care, and compassion focused therapy to support students experiencing intense emotional and behavior challenges who are placed in our presenters' Tier 3 intervention program within a rural public school district. The students our presenters serve carry high ACE scores, are marginalized from the mainstream setting, and are experiencing the oppressive effects of generational poverty and trauma. Their team is composed of BCBAs, LMHCs, psychologists, and RBTs, moving beyond the traditional ABA framework, bridging the gap between behavioral intervention and mental health. The mission of their work is rooted in addressing suffering and building psychological flexibility to open the doors to a more well lived experience, despite the hurt and barriers our students face day to day. Their entire staff are trained in ACT, to both enhance well-being on individual levels, but to model psychologically flexible behaviors to our students. This presentation is aimed at sharing information with and helping students, BCBAs, RBTs, mental health professionals, parents, teachers, administrators, social workers, counselors.
